So Far to Fall

16 Jul
We are born into this world bloody and innocent, both at the same time.
Blood is not innocence as we find out.
Blood is pain.
Blood is disappointment.
Blood is love.
Blood is hate.
Blood is life.
We bleed much throughout our life.
We bleed dreams.
We bleed heartache.
We bleed tears of sweet,
sweet pain.
Till one day we finally bleed out.
That’s a sad day.
For on that day is when we realize we are the walking dead.
For our hearts have ceased to pump life-giving blood throughout our bodies.
We now find ourselves craving little moments of life.
Even at the cost of all that remains,
feeble flesh and brittle bone.
We find moments of solace with those we grow to love.
People we see who are never going to admit we are dead.
They cling to us,
hurting more than healing,
desperately trying to bring us back to life.
They will try.
They will fail.
What’s dead belongs in the earth.
Lay in darkness,
feed on emptiness.
Trying to remember the feel of the sun on our faces.
Leave us be.
We know you promise hope.
We know you promise smiles.
We know you promise truth.
We know you promise love.
the beat in your heart,
the breath in your lungs,
the taste on your lips,
the cure and the curse.
Bleed no more my brothers.
Bleed no longer my sisters.
We have no more blood left for this bloodletting.
We have run dry.
Leave us here.
Leave us to the moonlight.
